DTM doesn't have (acid) etch primer built in, but it isn't needed with this type of primer. It is more like a hybrid epoxy/urethane, depending on the brand/type.

I have a sandrail that has been sitting outdoors in this primer for about a year with no signs of failure (rust killer DTM):

They also make epoxy primers.
So quick repaints would be best to spray them with DTM primer?
That is what I do. It will cover sand-throughs to bare metal and just about any other type of material you will run into in the autobody world.
