Hello all. Had a quick question. Sprayed 3 coats of clear on the bed of my truck. On one side once the clear dried the lower rear corner doesn't look right. Kind of like I sprayed it to dry. My question is can I sand just that corner and just clear from the body line down or should I sand the entire side of the bed and give it a couple more coats of clear? What grit should be used for this 400 wet? Thanks for any help.

You'll have to fold some tape up on the body line and then mask it. But the line may still be visible after.

I would suggest sanding it with 800 as said by Dave and re clearing the whole panel.
You won't have to worry about having any clear coat hard lines in the end.

You could also(assuming you gave the area enough coats) sand the dry area smooth and buff/polish it.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have tried to take a couple of pictures but the area I am talking about doesn't show up in pictures. I had thought about sanding it down and trying to buff it out...but I have a question regarding that, even sanding it with 800 grit. I was trying to purchase some 3m sandpaper to give this a shot. But when I look at the different sandpaper for sale when I see 800, 1000, 1500....when I look at it closer it is all P800, P1000, P1500. My understanding is that the P graded sandpaper once in that range is much coarser. When talking about grit are you guys referring to the standard grading system or the P grading system? Thanks

P800

Also chances are if your clear is dry looking... Sure you could polish it and make it shine but it will lack the proper mil thickness and will eventually fail anyway.

If sanding clear for respray use 800 grit.
If sanding clear to buff/polish use 1500 grit, or you could drop to 1200 grit followed by 1500 grit.
