Was wondering, after I weld in a new patch panel or whatever it may be, I have bare metal. If I don't want to spray the whole panel or whole car, is there something that I can spray on it for a week or month, while I do other work on the car. Mainly so it doesn't rust. Maybe something as simple as a rattle can primer or something to just tide it over til I am ready to spray an epoxy primer on the whole panel.

Epoxy primer is perfect for just such cases.
You can brush on, roll it on or spray it on depending on the situation. When ready to spray the entire panel simply scuff it up, wipe clean with Wax and Grease remover, let dry and shoot.
