Hi all...

been a while since I have been on here.

I have a new project car that I intend to keep until the end of (my) time. its been painted a few times and has some fiberglass work to the fenders to flare them out in the back and to blend a fiberglass hood vent in.

I will snap some pictures tonight, but im having some issues with one of the previous paint jobs bubbling/flaking from bad adherence.

What route would I be able to do myself to take the car down to bare metal without damaging the fiberglass work?
FWIW, I don't have big air in the shop im going to be prepping in and I don't have a sand blaster setup. :x

Thanks,
Matt

No, its a modified '90 Toyota Cressida.

It has a front end off of a Japanese spec car with a molded in hood vent and fiberglass rear fender flares (molded in)

Im stripping it down for a full repaint. Going a navy blue shade and im not sure what effect to add to it yet. Thinking a micro flake, but a lot of it.
First off I need to get the old paint off without making more work for myself.

I wouldn't use any sort of stripper period! NASTY stuff

I would look into getting a Compressor first
your original post said you didn't have a big compressor. You don't need a Big compressor Just one that puts out enough CFM's to keep up with your Sander and Paint gun.

paint stripper is great if you know how to use it.

but for a beginner and having molded on parts you are probably best to sand down to a safe mil thickness. do you know how many mils are on the car ?
