I'm trying to finish a bed lid, and I want a "Ford Racing" logo in the middle.

Trying to stencil to actually paint the logo on seem to be impossible to find, so I thought the next best thing was to buy a sticker logo, and paint clear over the whole bed lid sticker, and all.

So, is there any kind of material this sticker will need to have to work/hold up properly?

I have seen vinyl, and other materials made in these stickers, but I don't know which is best.

HOWEVER, if someone knows where I CAN buy a stencil, and just paint it on the bed lid that would be great.

Here is the logo I want.

What is a spray mask?

I did a Google search, and I can't tell if they are a stencil, or some type of stick on.

Like PainterDave said, a sign shop can help you out. They have cutters, kinda like a CNC, that will cut vinyl in the pattern you wish, then they put it on a backing paper. Then all you have to do it stick it on, peel the backing off, shoot ur color, then peel the stencil back off. I don't know how an actual vinyl sticker would react with clear coat, that would have to be R&D'd before I'd make the final move on that. One more option I see a lot of more and more of is a vinyl wrap. Not that much for graphics with this logo you want, but you see these cars and trucks with all kinda crazy graphics that could only be done with a printer/plotter, they are printing those graphics on vinyl and wrapping the whole vehicle. Best of luck to you.

Rosenbluth is correct. your sign shop will know what a spray mask is. you would need some AP-01 house of kolor over a vinyl sticker that large

I've done a lot of decals or stickers with clear over them mostly Harley tank decals. your best to do what Dave has said and do the sign shop stencil. spraying clear over stickers or decals is risky at the least, there are possibilities for all kinds of problems.

M-train the AP-01 will work. i do vinyl 4x8 sheets all the time the thing i worry about would be you applying the AP-01 properly. that being said i would suggest just having a vinyl sticker made and not clearing over it. you should get a 5 year warranty on the vinyl.
