Newbie painter needing help with masking tape lines

Hey guys the mrs had her car keyed very badly so ive sanded and sprayed the area with color matched paint but the masking tape has left what looks like mould lines on the door panel can anyone help with a solution

There is a proper procedure for making repairs like yours.
Your paint doesn't match, not even close, so no matter what you do the repair is going to stand out.

Normally you would scuff the entire door with scotchbrite to dull the existing clear. Tape off the rest of the car so as to avoid over spray getting everywhere. Repair your scratches and then blend the correct color paint into the surrounding areas. Once the repair is invisible you would shoot clear over the entire door hence no tape lines.

Now the proper fix is for you to take your car to a good body shop. Paint door blend fender and rear door. This may have been a easier fix had you asked questions before spray painting it.

It looks like the clear coat has already began to peel back in the second picture.


I vote to re-do the whole door.
