I have a Sharpe 3000FX ( I think that is what it is) and I used it on primer on a previous project and it sprayed good.

I cleaned the gun really really good. You couldn't even tell I had used it.

Today I went to primer another project and it was sputtering and bubbles where in the cup. I thought it was too thick. Tried more air pressure, tried less pressure..

funny thing is, about halfway through each cup, it started working better.

I have a 1.8MM tip and was shooting Axis APR1261-1 Versaprime 2K HB Urethan Primer.

Even at 4:1:1 it would do it..

Came out great. But worried on the gun.

And after (Of course.. LOL :

Great. Thanks. Hopefully next time I shoot primer I'll remember that. :)

I don't shoot primer often.

When you clean your gun make sure you tighten it down with a wrench.
Needs to be that way no matter what you spray.

A gun can splutter or flutter when the fluid tip of the spray gun is not tightened up properly.

The liquid could be too thick also but I'm assuming you have ruled that one out.

The only thing that puts bubbles in the cup is a loose fluid nozzle.

Material to thick just sprays bad.

Yes sir I don't need to watch the video on a spray pattern. The original post was about "bubbles in the cup" and you ONLY get bubbles in a cup from a LOOSE fluid nozzle.

No amount of reducer will fix it. As matter of fact straight reducer will bubble and so will anything else you put in the gun.

I know a little bit about them :)

on some guns you don't want to tighten the fluid tip real tight, like as tight as you can. it will deform the seat were the fluid tip seats. just a good firm tightening is usually good. I like to lube the needle when I install it, Devilbiss has a gun lube in a tube it helps keep the packing for the needle in good condition.

Yeah try some SATA grease. Works great.

You notice my new SATA phaser 5000 !? Black one in the middle. Second one sitting in the gun "pun not intended" safe in the garage.
