So it's been quite a few years since I have refinished a vehicle, currently I am going through the "process" to see what is out there and get some pricing lined up. One thing that surprised me is a local paint supplier offered me pricing on "ready to shoot" pre-reduced chromabase. Has anyone every purchased chromabase this way?
In the past we always mixed as we went and saving a step sounds great to reduce user error but im skeptical. Any advice would be appreciated!

Personally, I would much rather be the one adding reducer to my paint.

i do RTS "ready to spray" pretty often.
when i got a color in a different paint line other than what i mix here at the shop i order RTS and have a lot less waste and spend less money on it. why chromabase ? it is very expensive Experienced Trained Certified

another thing i should add is this...
i spray in a controlled booth. so RTS works for me since my temps stay the same. a DIY guy in a garage or uncontrolled shop will have to consider temp changes and reduce accordingly. Experienced Trained Certified

Thanks for confirming that RTS is a viable option. I'm going with chromabase because I like the ease of application and it's a personal project. Is it more expensive yes, but I feel the pearl and metallic really come alive. The new cars today from Ford and Dodge have a unique and deep metallic that I'm hoping a higher end base will allow to show.

remember any temp changes is going to effect your paint.
Chromabase is over rated. and over priced. so many other basecoat systems out there for a better price. most paint manufactures by the pigments from the same suppliers. pearl metallics oxides etc etc you paying three times the price for then name not for the metallic. Experienced Trained Certified

that's good information, for my own knowledge what base do you prefer to use? I'd like to look into alternatives as well. On a side note my old friends at PPG also seemed to be on the expensive side of town.

hard for me to say really...
i use all the top of the line stuff but i also pay half or less than you would so my opinions are bias lol Experienced Trained Certified

Always been a fan of DuPont no matter the price but there are other options available. Check to see if Wanda is available in your area. Great paint at a great price. Also available in R.T.S. Metallics and pearls are excellent. Have been spraying it for years along with the complete Transtar line of products. Multiple restoration jobs with multiple show wins as proof. Have also seen and heard that Nason works well as but have never sprayed it. Good luck.

Thanks all for the responses, I may have linked up with a PPG supplier that has more amicable pricing.
