I had rusting in front of my rear arch, it was all bubbled up, so I got a bodyshop to repair it, apparently they cut the bad metal out & all that.

I picked it up & it looked alright in their lights but a week later in the garage with daylight coming straight in at the front of the car & shining down the side, I noticed 2 bubbles.

Id sooner not have bubbles in the paint & I was worried it might be rust they missed or fresh rust?? so I told the bodyshop but, they said its probably air & they seem uninterested in doing anything about it now they have my money.

Is there any chance this could be rust & is a couple of bubbles something worh complaining about? Thanks.

if its only 2 weeks old take it back and tell them they need to fix it or refund all of your money, that's bad work. tire looks real close!

That is no bueno!!! It will never get any better, and will peel off eventually. Hit it with a pressure washer once and it's gone.

Thanks for the reassurance, ive not had to have any proper bodywork done in the past so I was unsure if I was just being picky.
I went back & was prepared to tell him id have him in court but I think he could tell I meant business so he said he will do the repair on the repair.
He sprayed the whole side of the car, I had a new wing too, & I was happy with the rest of it to be fair, but he should have just redone it in the first place.
He better do a good job cause I will be REAAAALY checking it this time.

That is from them filling the rusted area with filler. There is nothing there for the filler to grab so it is not holding on. I had a truck bed come in and the guy said just duraglass the holes. I tried to tell him but did it anyways with no warranty. Less then a month he came back with the same pic u have.
Take it back, tell them to sand it down and show u the new metal they welded in.

I agree with jpat in that there was not metal cut out and replaced.
if metal was replaced, youre bill should reflect it as metal replacement is costly.

id be doing this,too:

"Take it back, tell them to sand it down and show u the new metal they welded in."

but, if you can get a view of the inside of that wheel well, you can probably tell if theres new metal or not.

I am with Badsix
I am not going to guess whats causing the problem to many things. But their is a clear evidence of no adhesion under the Base coat.
It could go all way to the metal? Wont know till its peeled off

I went back & he decided he will do it again, so its ok. He didn't weld any metal in, its filler. Like I said I didn't get any bodywork done over rust before, I have no idea how much it costs to have metal welded in place of the rust.

I paid £1300/$1600 for basically spraying both sides of the car & blending it in & the repair on the rear arch. From responses, im guessing the fabrication rather than filling would cost way more.

I bought new wings/fenders to get rid of the rust properly there, I was hoping to fix the rust in the rear arch but perhaps it will return.
