hey guys
I need to paint my tank for my 1950s motorcycle, the rest of the bike is in 1k acrylic laquer (australia) but I need to put a more durable topcoat on the tank for fuel spills etc
I dont want to buy a 2k clear that goes in the gun because I wont really use it and 1L is reasonably expensive.
has anyone seen the 2k urethane in a can?
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2K-HS-CLEAR- ... Sw4CFYrTCh
there is this one which says its 2k and activates on spraying ? - sounds like bs to me
vs the spraymax 2k which has an isocyanate hardener capsule in the bottom
thanks for opinions
I want to spray the 2k clear over well cured 1k, I am hoping this is going to be possible...
otherwise the alternative is to get some 2k urethane single stage made up in the colour i want but I bet it will come out looking slightly different to the rest of the bike.
I made some mistakes painting this thing and one of htem was not painting everything together!
2k aerosols any one used?

Check with your paint supply store they may sell a good product. Don't know if you have a WalMart in your country they sell just a cheep clear in a can. do know a used car gut that has great results with it on bumpers.

OP is in Australia, guys. No Eastwood here.
TBH, I've never used the 2K spray cans - having a shop means I can mix what I like and when. But....the biggest problem with any spray can is that they just don't atomise fine enough and usually rely on very thinned product to achieve atomisation. The usual result is massive peel as it goes on too thick trying to get coverage. Hence the need to warm them up to try to thin the product a bit. There are a few spray can out there that are able to achieve acceptable results, but in 2K clear I don't know. Chris

i've ordered the HB 2k (without the hardener) to test on some other small projects and my side covers as well
I will order the spraymax 2k with hardener and try it on some test pieces as well |
I use spray max cans here often and they work good for what we do with them.
i can also load my basecoat colors in them. http://www.spraymax.com/index.php?id=361&L=1 Experienced Trained Certified
