Do you follow instructions for primer/base/clear?
Let us say you paint just one fender.
Base instructions: 5-10 min between coats, 2-4 coats
Clear instructions: 5-12 min. between coats, apply 2-3 coats.
How many coats do you spray? Would you wait at least 5 min between coats?
Thanks.

Yes, you follow instructions. TO THE LETTER!
Paint quality and color makes a difference in the coverage so generally 3 coats is safe unless you have a very light color then it may take more. Flash times are generally calculated at 70 degrees so it is best to wait the longer amount of flash time if you want to avoid problems. 1968 Coronet R/T

Everything starts with the p. sheet. Do some reading on previous threads and a common theme comes up..... guys started painting on what they "heard" about products/methodology, saw a video, etc. And of course they ended up here with all of us asking questions like, "Why did you do that?", "What were you thinking????, and on and on. And yes, the p. sheets are the stepping off points somewhat because most of the hobby shooters don't have even the minimum conditions required to get the p. sheet results. Too cold, too hot, too dirty, not enough air flow, underpowered compressor, cheap gun, and on and on there too...... So now you.... start with some instructions to avoid this......
