Hello Everyone.
What grit sand paper do you scuff your epoxy primer with before applying a skim coat of filler (Evercoat Rage)? I don't want to go to aggressive and scratch through to bare steel but I still want enough tooth for the filler to grab to. Also, If I recoat the epoxy with a fresh coat of epoxy, can I apply the filler (Evercoat Rage) after flash but before 24 hours with out scuffing the same way you can apply poly primer or should I let it cure beyond the 24 hours and scuff for a mechanical bond?
What grit paper to use?

Lenny, check the tech sheet but as example if the epoxy has a 48 hour recoat window then you don't need to do anything to it before filler if inside that window. Note that the recoat window is assumed the car is *not* sitting out in sunlight all day long.
If shooting more epoxy the recoat times still apply -- if within the recoat window then just shoot it...if outside the recoat window you need to put tooth into it first. p220 grit would be a reasonable choice for either recoating or for filler. |
