My new aftermarket hood is arriving from Summit Racing on Tuesday. It states it has the EDP coating on it. I've read to test that coating with lacquer thinner to see if it's a true EDP coating. If it checks out do I just need to scuff it with something like a Scotchbrite pad before priming? Or just rough it up lightly with 80 grit?

Thanks, I know I've started a lot of threads lately but this project is moving at the speed of light right now and I have a lot of questions..

there are as with anything good and not so good. I like to sand the parts with say 220. I don't like the scratch pad rout as the lower range will have crap in the coating, drips bubbles, and what ever. a good test is to take your DA and sand a spot to bare metal then try and feather it out. if its a lower quality it won't feather it just keeps crumbling away. good quality it will feather nice and clean and smooth. I suppose the scratch pad would work I just don't like doing it that way.
