If your worried about the inside I have had real good luck with Kreem tank coating in new or real clean used tanks. it MUST be CLEAN free of ALL oils and contaminates. there are several other tank coating available this just happens to be the one I used

Heya, what do you mean by Ni-Terne treated? how do I find out? it's a new Bearmach tank for a Land Rover Defender: https://www.lrdirect.com/NRC9515-suppli ... ed-bm.html

Here in Ghana I found the paints I mentioned above - on top of it today I found this one-component anti-corrosion zinc coating system: ZINGA - http://www.zinga-uk.com/product-range/zinga

any other thoughts on the best way forward?

cheers

Call the company and ask, I'll let you do the research. I own a resto shop and buy treated tanks. Some prefer stainless. One of my cars has a 20 year old Ni-terne tank and it is like new. To what corrosive conditions will this tank be exposed that you are concerned about it rotting out before you drop dead? :)
