I am looking for tips for painting the inside of the cab roof on my 79 C10 short bed. I have a budget HVLP gun. I know I could buy a sealed system gun but guys must accomplish this using normal gravity guns. For the time being I am not adding a headliner as this truck was original without. I would appreciate any wise words given.

i'm old school and don't know that much about gravity guns shooting overhead. now if you were using an old suction gun I could set you up.

did an 87 blazer with my copper tekna and the dekups system.
heres one video showing it

devilbiss has adapters for different guns, too.

3M has a similar system,too.

you can do a dry run with your gun, too. figure out your plan of attack and see if its possible without the dekups or pps system. the blazer didnt have a headliner so i wasnt able to figger it out any other way.

Thanks for the replies. I was aware of the different systems that are out there that could be purchased to do the job but was hoping someone had a trick up their sleeve. I am contemplating buying a new gun but still don't know if I would buy one of those with that system. I have gotten by with my budget gun with a 1.8 tip for spraying epoxy then 2K high build after my body work. Even painted the under side and firewall black with a 1.3. Now as I want to paint the interior so I can move forward during the winter I have a decision to make. I do know my 74 year old next door neighbor hot rod guru has mentioned to me before that he has some old suction guns kicking around. Going to explore that option first. I will post some pictures of my truck build so far. Whats the best way to go for uploading pics? Again thanks for the help.

if your neighbor has a suction gun see if you can use it. turn the suction tube so it faces toward the back at the same time turn the vent hole forward. fill the cup about half way full, now spray away.
