Hi,
I am about to restore my car and have fully disassembled all parts making the body ready for professional painting. The body will be painted inside and out.
When assembling the car again, how do I avoid cracking/chipping of the paint where the bolts/screws are mounted? There will be a large clamping force/pressure from each fastener.
Thanks in advance,
Lucas

Proper Film thickness while painting, Less is better, assembling while Paint is still soft helps as well same day or next day NOT weeks or months or years later. And of course an Airbrush cures a lot of evils.

A little "flex agent " in your paint may help,
as well as using epoxy primer first. JC.

you got a few pics ?
assembling while paint is soft is not a good idea, it can make the clear "bubble" around the bolt or screw, Experienced Trained Certified

Put a little grease under the head of the bolt / part that comes in contact with the paint.

Ive seen a resto magazine article where man used 1 Gal Milk Jug and gasket hole punches to make thin washers to fit under heads of fasteners....
I'm thinking that thin fiber or plastic washers might be had at large fastener dealers ???? |
