There is a PPG global price code for a special pigment that is $12k/Gallon

Honestly, asking for price code and price would be the same question to the jobber. Price code vs Price is basically only for jobbers. It's different for every line too. Deltron follows the same as PainterDave's example, but Omni and Global do not. They do 'A, B, C, ...). Not sure about other paint manufacturers.

Nah, it's a price code of mixed paint. It's $11k in Deltron and $12k in global. I haven't looked to see what colors. It's custom stuff and I work in collision anyway.

not to argue buddy but you are missing what im saying, even if you took 1 gallon of the most expensive toner which is actually a bottle of pearl, the cost for a gallon of it is 8404.00
that alone would never equal 12k then you factor in you only going to use a few grams per gallon, and most of that gallon will be cheap toners it is mathematically impossible for a gallon of paint to cost that much.

Yeah, Dave, I get that. Just making a silly example of variations. It's not a toner that costs that. Should have had your jobber to put your gallons on the top. Easier to handle and less wear and tear on the machine. I've did that on my last 2 installs.

You got a little of everything there, don't you? Lol

I'm assuming you are not in a collision shop?

no sir, not a collision shop. i did collision for 30 years im pretty done with that. no challenge in cars for me anymore. i use PPG Deltron, global, Delfleet Evolution, Sikkens autobase,
BASF diamont, Dupont Chromabase, and Matthews sign paint, House of Kolor,

i think thats about it.... i refinish and stain wood too.

i run the paint department for a company named Czarnowski, we build the displays for all the auto shows, general motors, audi, bmw, porche, etc.

my banks are here really for emergencies i have my jobbers mix most of my stuff because i spray so many gallons of paint a day i make them mix it lol,

Curious, why Deltron and Global? Why all the paint lines period? I know they all have differences, but that's a lot of money. I'm assuming that you have a computer for each one?

As a paint rep I only see collision shops 99% of the time. I find the other stuff interesting though. There's a decent restoration shop here that I like to visit, they always have cool stuff in there.

So, do you get creative freedom or are you just sent a drawing to duplicate? I wish we were closer I'd love to take you to lunch and pick your brain.
