Hey everybody! It seems these days when I shop for reducer,my choices are cool, moderate and warm. Okay so when it's warm out, I use warm reducer.....so that means it is considered slow. Is this correct? When I told the guy at the counter I needed "slow",he told me that would be the "cool", I bought the cool. Now... I'm thinking warm is slow.

first of all do not buy reducer based on the "feeling" of temp, know how warm or cool it will be when you spray, warm temp reducers are for warm to hot weather, cool temp reducers are for cold weather, how warm and humid is it in your area ? what size panel and what size tip are you using ?

Not sure why your asking me questions, this is not helpful, now I just feel dumb and should call meteorologist instead.
Maybe they'll know if warm is slow

youre not dumb, just need a little help, and to give you the absolute best advice im asking questions. perhaps you know a brand of the reducer youre asking about ?

heat and humidity mixed together dry paint very fast, if you are in a high humid area my answer will be different than if in a dry area,

sorry if it does not seem helpful

Every brand reducer says the same thing on the label! A few years ago they all said, slow, medium or fast. NOW they all say cool, moderate or warm. Is the warm considered the slow reducer.that is my question. I am not even painting anything right now. So any circumstances are redundant!

Below is a list of Matrix brand reducers. You'll notice in the product number the last two digits in the MR series, refers to their recommendation of the air temperature at the spraying location. In MR-0860 the 60 refers to 60 degrees in the booth or a cool temp. If it is hot out, say 90 degrees you would probably want the MR-0885 Warm Air Temperature or MR-0895 Hot Air Temperature since there is no MR-0890.

Also in the next list shown below , their MBR base coat reducers, they use the Fast, Medium, Slow, and Extra Slow designations. If it was cool out and it took a long time for the paint to dry since it is cool out, you would want to use the Fast reducer to speed the drying process. If it was 90 degrees out you would want to slow the drying process down so you would use the "Slow" reducer. Also when in doubt just ask the supply house that you are purchasing your products from or call the manufacturers tech help line to be sure when in doubt.

MR-0860 PREMIUM URETHANE REDUCER-COOL TEMP.
MR-0870 PREMIUM URETHANE REDUCER-MED. TEMP.
MR-0885 PREMIUM URETHANE REDUCER-WARM TEMP.
MR-0895 PREMIUM URETHANE REDUCER-HOT TEMP.
MR-0898 PREMIUM URETHANE REDUCER-EXTREME HEAT SDS

Also:

MBR-100 LOW VOC BASECOAT REDUCER - FAST SDS
MBR-200 LOW VOC BASECOAT REDUCER - MEDIUM SDS
MBR-300 LOW VOC BASECOAT REDUCER - SLOW SDS
MBR-400 LOW VOC REDUCER - EXTRA SLOW

Hope that helps.
