Alright so I sprayed my wife’s mustang with single stage OMNI black and it came out great except I had a run in the tail pan that needed fixed and some chipping that happened by accident on the passenger door. So I taped off the car minus the tail pan and door, scuffed it up and resprayed. I had plastic sheeting covering the rest of the car beyond the paint. The car was in my garage in about 80 degree temps.

So when I took the tape and plastic sheeting off and the paint looked great till I noticed it is foggy looking in odd splotchy places which doesn’t make sense. I made extra sure to have the car taped off well to avoid any overspray. I can’t explain it other than being foggy looking. I attached pics below to try and show it best what happened.

you did the famous error of wrapping up fresh paint and the solvents couldnt escape is my first guess.
here is your answer below

rubbing your hand over the hazy spots can you feel a rough dry feel ?
if you answer yes it is over spray
if you answer no it is trapped solvent falling back onto the paint. buffing should take care of either answer. if over spray a clay bar will work maybe

in the future do not cover paint and if you do get it off fast.

So it is smooth when rubbing over those spots. So it must be solvents not able to escape? I waited a week between the fix and the initial spray.

Since it sounds like solvents not being able to escape all it should take is buffing it out? Is there any certain compound that would work better than others? I’m new to the painting game as you can see by my mistake earlier.
