Hello Everyone,
I was talking to a guy today that told me he was a retired body man (30+ years) who was looking at a car I had for sale and I showed him another car I was working on. He recommended that I wet sand the base coat before I shoot the clear. Is that a good idea? I always thought that the final base should not be sanded prior to clear. I also told him it was a metallic base and he said there's no problem with wet sanding it prior to clearing. The base I plan to use is PPG's Shopline JBP. It does not use an activator and is a 1968 Poly (fine flake) base. Sanding it didn't sound right to me but then again I'm still learning. What's your thoughts please.
Thanks ~ Lenny B
Is it OK to sand base coat?

lenny no dont sand your base,
most i would do is dirt nib with 1000 grit then on a metallic you would need to respray that area. Experienced Trained Certified
