I was kind of wondering something similar but more of what should I expect to see when I adjust the different gun settings? I have two FLG4 guns with 1.3 & 1.8 tips (HVLP air caps) that I use for sealers and high build primers I have two Sagola 4600s (conventional air caps) each with a 1.3 that I use for BC/SS and the other for Clears only I just noticed the other day that Devilbiss says to run the FLG4 at 23 psi and I have been setting both of mine to 2 bar (29 psi) - I have been getting good results with my setup spraying both sealer and the HB primers and wonder what I would get if I knock the pressure down to 23? With my Sagolas, I love spraying Clears at 29 psi, it comes out awesome! My BC comes out pretty good also (except when I put it on too thick, with too much reducer when it was cold - had wrinkle city!!) I do run my guns with the fan control almost wide open and the trigger (material?) almost all open. I clean my guns a lot and when I put them back together, I pull the trigger all the way in, adjust the material knob until I hit the trigger and go "a little bit more in" (if that makes sense) But I have been struggling with Single Stages out of my 4600 - Just starting to get those acceptable. The last one I did (a sub box) the sides came out perfect, while the top had a little OP. I want to get a viscosity cup so I can at least compare notes on the material. Should a BC or SS have the same atomization of a CC? When I spray CC out of my 4600, the fan and atomization looks like a nice clean "fog"? - not really sure how to describe it. I definitely need to spend some time with a wall, paint and a bunch of paper, I just kinda get lost when I am out in the barn by myself and don't know what I should be adjusting to do what. Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head...

like has been talked about here there are many things that will effect how your gun sprays a certain material. as I've said before get a couple old fenders or doors and practice with your gun adjustments and air pressure. most jobbers will have paint that was mixed wrong for almost nothing. mine would give it to me, get some and start playing. if your spraying at 29# and it sprays good try it at 23 and see what it does ideally you want a nice spraying paint at the lowest pressure that it will perform the best. to much air pressure and you start wasting paint.

Not all air regulators gauges are gonna be absolutely perfect in reading either so don't trust them 100% it could read Hi or low cheap Junk is every where even in Hi dollar stuff.
In the aviation industry we have to have all gauges certified and you would be amazed at the correction tables if it cant be adjusted to correct indication. Dennis B.
