I agree. My Dad and I messed with cars while I was growing up and my son and I redid an old pickup while he was growing up. It beats the TV or many other things that are even much worse.

My real motivation in teaching my daughter these things is so when I'm really old and decrepit she can come over and fix the faucet or fence or whatever, isn't that how it's supposed to work
