Hey Everyone,

I'm working on the gaps on my 71 Camaro and ran into a snag. I'm adding and taking away metal and was wondering what tricks you guys use to get the lines straight and crisp when grinding edges or doors?

I'm trying to use my 3" roioc with a 36 grit disc and I can't get the edges straight. They end up being kind of wavy...which makes sense with only a 3" area to grind at a time. It seems like I should be using some sort of belt sander that covers more area...but I am unsure what to use.

Here's an example of welding steel rod to my lower passenger door to close the gap in

You need a line a work toward in order to get it to match the other edge. A divider caliper/scribing caliper, or what ever you want to call it, works good for that. Once you get the edge ground down enough to close the door, then scribe the line, and continue grinding toward that line. I use a file to get the last bit off.
