You have to ease off the power gradually when you want to stop, and I even back up slightly.

I'm frazzled & I'm convinced I have the most expensive equipment in the world for making holes in sheet metal :whoops:

Went and talked to a friend who has an EconoTig by Miller nice machine very small and light I like it didn't try using it though should have just compared notes he says to use strait Tungsten I tried on my machine it no good for me back to 2% thoriated

I think Im trying to many things just need some one to say YES machine is set right this is right that's right just keep practicing....

While looking for a stone to sharpen the tungsten I ran across this, it really looks interesting if you, or a friend has a mill or metal lathe.

While at the HF site to order the $10 diamond wheel for modification to fit my grinder, I found that they have a little circular saw blade sharpener #96687 with the wheel already attached for $33.74 after the discount. Its just a little thing that I can put on a shelf out of the way when not in use. It runs quite and true, does the job very well. I don't know how they came up with the description, the base is 10inX9in .

I also found some other diamond wheels at HF

The diamond wheel and the little grinder are working out very good, I like them.
I tried the higher amperage and faster speed and really like it. There is very little distortion, and not much to grind off either. It just takes a while to get it all fitting good. This is a six inch stretch that was welding in about 30 seconds.

And there is good penatration. You can see my tack welds.

I went through several helmets because of this, I guess the tig requires more sensitivity than most of them have. But I finally found one that works good. As long as I remember to turn it on.
