Well I have never done any real welding before and I just wanted to know if this would be a good welder to start out with. I purchased a Harbor freight flux core welder but returned after some advice from you all. So will this be a good on to start out with http://www.homedepot.com/p/Lincoln-Elec ... VSkH07D9Ms I wont be doing any structural welding. Just putting in new door handles, shaving firewall and drip rails etcetera.

i cant offer personal experience on quality on that particualr welder, but LE has been making welders for a long time.
it is either gas or flux core. i would suggest setting it up for gas. flux core splatters a lot. |

Yes I will be setting it up to run gas for sure.

yes that is an excellent mig welder for a begginer, as others have said, go with solid wire and argon/co2 mix gas, and run some .023 wire

Do yourself and buy one with a rheostat heat setting. You can then precisely adjust your heat.

I bought one of the HF 90 Amp Flux Welder. I have welded a bit with it and became somewhat familiar with it.
Last week I picked up a MIG 135 from Eastwood ($339.00 and free shipping) The bottle (125 CF) put me back another $180 but I am set for a while. It welds 1000x better and cleaner and easier than the flux welder. I am keeping it as it does have a place. 1973 RS Camaro
