Well ya a lot of guys would considar a mig the go to all of welding and for welding two sheets being welded together from being drilled apart sure why not it works.
But lay a bead on sheet metal such as laying down a bead to Butt weld Two thin sheets together? forget it! working a Mig weld bead by hammer and dolly forget it.
A Mig bead just too hard, grind it down and forget it.1

As far as Welding Aluminum you can weld Aluminum with Gas you don't need a spool gun or a Tig I have all three and they each have there place for one to do all? no I'm sorry no one process can do it all each has its place Mig is essayist to learn and Master. but it definitely has its limits and short comings.

I don't know if this is supposed to link me to a video but if so I couldn't make it work on my android phone. I did YouTube search mig brazing. That was pretty cool! Anyone tried it? Is it for non-srtuctural only? Looks like you could work the seam a little better with the softer material. Kind of makes me think of a mix of leading and welding. Also looks like the only cost is a role of wire. The guys on the videos seemed to have different opinions on gas so I'm guessing that pretty much anything will work.

That is interesting , I`d like to try it, definitely non structural , brazing doesn`t penetrate the base metal and become as one , as with using regular mig wire

The learning curve is way steep! Material costs are astronomical and then there are guys out there willing to work for nothing literally giving there work away.

If it ain't BROKE fix it till it is!!

No It doesn't BUT the Silicon Bronze wire they are using makes a Bead that has a Tinsel strength ALMOST as strong as a regular Mig wire Bead.

I loved this post especially the aluminium can. Some people use flux core wire because of the expense of renting a gas bottle. There are ways around renting but be carefull

From Metalshapers web sight
http://metalshapers.org/101/covell/cove ... onze.shtml
He says its half the strength I could swear I saw a Welding sight post strengths of different welding wires and Silicon Bronze was just 15k-20k lbs less Tinsel strength than steel but not half its strength. oh well I'm wrong again not the first time or the last.
