Hello,
So I would like to start out by saying that I bought this 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan for $200.00 with only a 160K on the odometer. I knew it needed some exhaust work (not much) and new rotors and brake pads - I also knew it needed body work... I knew how to go about getting the body work done until I ran into the Rocker Panels. I am comfortable with Welding, riveting etc... I am only now concerned after noticing in one or two spots their is rust on the actual framing of the car where the rocker panel would be riveted to. It is not the entire length, but mainly under the drivers side sliding door where the rust has actually eaten through the strip that rocker panel would be riveted. Pretty much I am looking for some options on what I can do here. I know as it is right now it will not pass safety, so I was hoping for some knowledgeable information on how I could go about proceeding. Would I have to weld another piece along this strip and then rivet the new rocker to that strip?
I have added some photos to help, if more are needed please let me know.
Thank you,
Replacing rocker panels, ran into an issue.

It's a pretty involved repair. General idea in this thread, which is one of our best examples here of a newbie DIYer who tackled it thoroughly.
