Hello
I am restoring an old truck and have wheel well rust that I want to repair using pre-fabricated metal wells.
I was told that the best way to do this is to cut out the old metal and weld in a replacement panel.
I need advice on what to use for a welder. Something inexpensive but will do the job on the body panels.
I see a number of welders at harbor freight that don't cost much. I have never welded before but I want to learn to do this myself.
Suggestions please?

For simply body panel replacement you won't need a big welder. If you plan to weld 1/4" plate or more then you will need something a bit bigger.
I use a MIG wire feed with Argon/Co2 gas and .023" diameter wire. Mine has a 60% duty cycle. 1968 Coronet R/T

exactly what 68 said, you can probably find a used one on Craig's list, or check your local welding store, a 110 v will work fine
