My Lincoln MIG only feeds wire for 3-5 seconds while welding and stops. I have taken the trigger contacts out cleaned them with electrical spray cleaner but it didn't seem to help. When it's welding everything seems normal.

Hey sorry about the Broken welder that's a Bummer.
Trouble shooting a broken welder is just as much fun, Might help to find a trouble shooting guide on Google if we knew what make and model serial number as well. Miller needs the serial number to get the correct manual that's only reason I say that. Might be set to stitch weld? You need a copy of the original manual http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-b ... &th=330886 Dennis B.

Is the drive wheel still turning?
You may have the drive wheel upside down and the slot for the wire is too big. 1968 Coronet R/T

1) As others have mentioned, make sure the roller slot is the correct size
2) Make sure the tension on the roller is correct (so that it is not slipping). 3) Make sure spool mount is not too tight. Something my Weldpak 100 tends to do, especially with a new roll of wire, is "self-tighten" the thumb screw as the spool is turning. After a little bit it becomes too tight and won't turn. |
