Flux core weld question

Just bought a Lincoln 140 and planned on doing small work on my project car like filling holes (spoiler holes) and pulling a dent. I'm now reading flux core is a no no, but will I be ok using flux core to weld some washers on to my dent, pulling the dent, then grinding the surface clean? Will it still react with the paint?

are you asking if the paint will react to the flux core wire ? if so, no, you will be ok

Yeah. I'm reading the flux left in the weld will cause issues on down the road. It makes no sense to me, and I've talked to older guys who say the same but I've read a lot of guys online say it's a problem.

your going to be grinding the weld smooth anyways, so any flux will be removed

The quality of the welding does make a difference. Most guys will recommend MIG or TIG and solid wire for auto body work since it produces a cleaner job.
Many beginners don't produce proper welds and have lots of pits, pin holes and pock marks to trap flux in so it is safer to advise using the gas and solid wire. 1968 Coronet R/T
