Wet sand Clear coat

My guess is that you didn't get all the 1500 scratches out with the 2000 before buffing.
First pic looks real nice. :goodjob:

no, I only did the test (fender) after noticing the orange peel... the car was "professionally painted" lol

thanks! not bad for my first clear coat wetsand.... but must confess, was scare of the outcome but now I want to keep going! lol Anyway Im taking it to where it got painted and let them do all the work since I paid for it.... the important thing is that I now know how to wetsand the clear :happy:

i was bored and since I like to work on my car I did the other fender but I cant manage to fully get the scratches out*....well. I manage to remove them but if you concentrate when looking at the pint in an angle only you can see like the trace of where the sand paper passed.

dont know if it because the products i using.... I got the wool "like" orange thing from autozone (50% something and 50% wool) and a 3M roubing compund http://www.autozone.com/autozone/access ... rget=shelf (wanted the 3M perfect-it 3000 but they dint have it)

You can't get top results using those products. That compound is meant for a hand rubbed application and is too coarse for finished polishing. There are many, many threads on here recommending products for buffing - check them out, pick one system and follow it to the letter.

1. Meguiars M105 (up to 1200 sandpaper)
2. Meguiars M205 (up to 2000 sandpaper)

since Im only using a 2000 sand paper, do I have to still use the 105 compund or just use the 205 one?

The idea in color sanding is to flatten the surface (remove orange peel and wave) and then gradually refine the sandpaper scratches but using finer grits. If your surface looks good then start with 1000 grit, then 1500, and then 2000 making sure to remove all the scratches of the previous grit until all that's left is the 2000 grit sandpaper scratches.

Jumping straight to 2000 grit will not flatten, remove any texture, or even 1000 grit scratches from the surface since it is so fine that it really just polishes.

I would use the Megs 105 and a wool pad to start.
Follow with Megs 205 and a white CCS foam pad.
Finish with a Swirl remover on a gray CCS Pad. (I like Menzerna 85 RD polish for this step but 3M or others will work)
