How to achieve that mirror shine?

Discuss anything after that final masking comes off.

It's wet sanded after the paint. I would like to get away from using the wool pad. I used a harbor freight buffer and the wool pad on my two trucks and a cj7. On the trucks (since their work trucks that are worked hard and were used to practice on for body work and paint) I used the wool pad and was always chasing the swirl marks. The harbor freight buffer's speed control would never hold the max speed so I was always readjusting the speed.

Here are the numbers. I was just out in the shop painting a tail gate .....

Dewalt buffer. Model DW-849
3M Foam Buff Pads; Blue 05733 Black 07538
3M Compound part number; Super Duty is 05954 Ultra Fine Polish is 06068

I use the Super duty with the black pad, and then the Ultra fine polish with the blue pad. Next step is Zymol with "CLEAN" Micro-fiber cloth.......
