fading color

i have a buddy who has some paint fading on the roof and trunk lid and was wondering if the color can be brought back. he was thinking about color sanding it with some 2000. any suggestions? thanx

Color sanding, at best, will only be a temporary fix even with further compounding and polishing. If you check out a few of the posts before this one we talk about the same thing with the color red. Chalking and discoloring are the advanced signs of a failing paint or at least a failing color. Nothing permanently brings it back.
