just finished wet sanding my tailgate, will a cheap autozone or kragen store buffer like 20$-40$ work

Harbor Freight's 11 amp. model can be picked up on sale most of the time for about $25. It's heavy as far as handling but does a really nice job for the bucks.

The motor sounds a little rough but it does the job AND allows you to dial in the specific RPMs...
