Okay I have a black Del Sol I wish to turn to red. I've heard that in order to paint a different color you need to remove the motor and paint the engine bay as long as door jams. Will the car look horrible if the body was red and a black engine bay, i believe door jams should be done tho. Also you have to sand the whole car down to bare metal as well before painting, then add some sealer and throw on the red, and top with a clear coat, is that right?

Sorry I'm new to the paint scene.....

It's your car. If you don't mind the engine bay being red than don't worry about it. I would do what ever body work is needed first. Then I would wet sand the rest of the car wirh 400-600 grit paper. Spray it with sealer and paint. There is no need to go all the way to bare metal.

Next time post questions like this in the body and paint forum, you will get more reply's.
