A couple of weeks ago I painted my bumper and it came out looking great except for the crappy texture you get with rattle can 2k clear. I went ahead and sanded from 1k to 2k, used Meguiars Ultimate Compund with a terry towel/microfiber. After that I used this Turtle Wax Polish (yeah I know) and my sears (yeah....I know) polisher with a wool bonnet and then quickly removed it by hand with a microfiber cloth.

To my surprise some corners and spots look grayish (haze?) but others look fine. What should I do to correct this? Polish more? Or should I compound again?

This is my polisher.

How soon after clearing with the spray can clear (a name and brand would help) did you sand it, and then wax it?

Your not suppose to wax a car for at least 90 days after painting it. The longer the better.

It was spraymax 2k. Instructions say to cut n buff after 24-48 hours. I didnt wax it. I used Meguiars Ultikate Compound and for polish Turtle Wax Premium Grade Polishing Compound.

Spraymax 2k cans are good. You can cut and buff when it's cured, that time frame is enough.
When you said turtle wax polish, I assumed it was a wax. Shouldn't have.

Without pics to see what it really looks like it's hard to say why it happened or even what would of caused it. Pictures would help. :-)

If all else fails, You could sand it down and re clear it as well.

Thanks

Well, I just realized I used the wrong tools and approach. First of all I used the Ultimate Compound by hand with a terry towel. That explains why I still see some textures.

Apparently, after painting, I should have used a different type of compound and polish; made for a rotary polisher. Rotary is whats used to remove orange peel? I'm I right about this?

For normal regular use that's when i'd use the products I bought, with a dual action polisher (random orbit).

At least thats what I'm getting from this:

Really wet/dry sand paper is what is used to remove Orange peel. So you would need to cut the peel that way first. Being very careful to not sand to far thru, that will cause you a issue, where you would have to redo it. Then you would take a high speed buffer with a compounding pad and compound polish and remove the scratches caused by the sandpaper you used. Then after that you would polish it with a non grit polishing compound with a polish pad.

This is a good video. to watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBeyWa0yR2U

I'm still thinking without looking that it will need to be re cleared, as I may be totally wrong here, so saying that first, but it sounds like some of the corners may be burned thru. Not sure that's just a guess.

Hope the video helps,if you youtube cutting and buffing it really will teach you better than almost anything we can type to you here.

Sorry, finally went out and got a picture, weekends are mine with the kids. I don't think (hope) I burnt through cause it looks shiny and I can see the paint in good shape whenever I run water or grease and wax cleaner through it.

Im just wondering why these gray spots came about.
I'm about to buy a griot's :), wandering what glaze to use.

Wow, I guess nobody uses this section of the forum. I don't know what it was, but I used my recently purchased Griots dual polisher and went over it again with some ultimate compound>ultimate polish>showroom glaze #7 and now its looking good.

I also used a claybar in that area.
