Afternoon all,

I have a 2001 silver car with original paint. The car looks great except for some minor white looking scratches in the area of the key holes and around the door handles. Nothing deep. Other than having to paint, because I'm afraid it would definitely look worse than it is, can anyone suggest a decent way of getting rid of them and making it look new again or at least match the rest of the decent silver color?

Usually scratches by the key hole are just in the clear coat. You can wet sand them with 2000 grit sandpaper and a buffer with cutting compound and they will come out. If you dont own a buffer or have any compound it might be cheaper to let a detail shop or body shop do it for you. Shouldnt cost too much.

Warning: if you have not used a buffer before it is very easy to burn though the clear. Buff need to rotate "off" the edges and not into them. Plus clear coat on edges is extra thin.
