I'm a newbie to most of this. I have painted a few vehicles but always with single stage acrylic enamel. This time I'm using 2 stage bc/cc. I'm working on a test panel before I paint entire car. I sanded the bare panel w/320 by orbital sander , primed then sanded w/600 shot 2 coat of base then 3 coats of clear. sanded out orange peel w/1500, then 2000, then 3000. buffed w/wool pad and #1 3M product on 3500rpm old style buffing machine. I still see sanding scratches. Could it be from the 600 after primer? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

welcome to the forum.

It could be a lot of things, including your primer shrinking as it dries and exposing those 320 scratches again. This can happen if the shop conditions are not great and you didn't allow a long enough time for the primer to dry, before sanding it and going to base.

Anyway, that's just one example...could be poor quality sandpaper on the clear coat as well, or dirt/debris getting in the sandpaper causing it to scratch the clear...

That's possible ,but these sanding scratches appear to be finer than 320 , maybe 600 or finer.

I'll assume the scratches are in the base coat since your talking coarse grit.
You probably didn't get all the 320 scratches out. Did you use guide coat?
The 320 scratches will look finer because they are partially filled with paint.
Any decent base coat should fill 600 scratches without any problems.
