I painted my vehicle and cut and buffed,I compounded then polished have not waxed yet. It felt slick as glass then a few weeks later it feels like 2000 grit sandpaper.

Sounds like a rush job, like those TV shows where
they prime and paint everything in one night. Primers need to cure and finish shrinking before painting over. If you clear over base to quickly it'll do that too. Most bases say 30 min time minimum to paint over. That's a minimum, under ideal conditions. Longer is better. Same with primers. It's always better to give more time (within reason) That may not be your problem, but most times that is exactly why paints die back and change later, sometimes months later. Solvents still trying to escape. JC.

Need way more information.
What was your cut and buff process? What grit sandpapers did you start and finish with? What type of buffs and compounds did you use? 1968 Coronet R/T

Started with 1000 grit to get rid of orange peel then 1500, 2000 and used presta 2 step compound wool pad to gray foam polishing

If you had it slick then it got rough again, that's shrinkage.
Solvents still escaping. JC.
