buffing gel coat?

Discuss anything after that final masking comes off.

my boat has water spots and rings i cant get off. is gel coat buffable? if so can i use 3M Perfect-It compounds, and is it easier to burn than clear coat.

Gel coat is absolutely buffable. It usually is at least 20 mils thick on most boats, sometimes as much as 30 mils even. It's such a hard and thick materal I can't imagine buffing through it although you can remove enough material to cause a "carnival mirror" effect or wave. Your 3M stuff should work fine. You may just have to start out with a fairly aggressive compound. Just take your time.
