Anyone using a porter cable dual action polisher? How does it compare to a rotary, make any difference with swirl marks when finishing? It's on my want list.

Yep, doesn't tell me much I don't know but thanks. It's supposed to be gentler and easier to use for the finishing touches rather than my monster rotary that wieghs a ton.

I want one also not very important right now..
though I have what you have a big heavy blackn decker.. now that I have the comp. to handle a da it is a big step in the right direction. |

I have one. The main problem with it is that it's not recommended for use with anything larger than a 6" diameter pad. This makes it less than ideal for buffing out wetsand scratchs. The 6" pad's outside edge doesn't have the speed a larger pad would, both being spun at the same RPM.
It's good for speed/machine glazing paint that doesn't have sand scratches or for use as a wax applicator. However, if you have a lot of time on your hands, it will take out sand scratches with something like perfect-it 2 and a cutting foam pad, but it just takes a very loooooooong time. |

Thanks, I wouldn't try to take out sand scratches with it, I'd probably only use it with machine glaze.

You're welcome.
To be honest, I really don't understand why it doesn't do a better job at removing sand stracthes. My pad size thing above is only a theory. Guess it's the randon orbit function, because it has the speed (can't remember if it is 4000 or 6000rpm at max). It does do a very good job at machine glazing. |

Compare the speed of the pad moving across the surface to that of a rotary, not even close. It's much gentler.

I THINK YOU GUYS SHOULD CHECK OUT THE NEW DYNABRADE POLISHERS. THEY ARE FULL SIZE BUT LIGHTER THAN THE DEWALTS AND BLACK/DECKERS ETC. THEY ALSO HAVE 3 HANDLE POSITIONS..SIDES AND TOP AND THEY ARE MUCH SMOOTHER WHEN IT COMES TO SPEED ADJUSTMENT. I JUST SOLD 3 IN THE LAST WEEK AND THE SHOPS LOVE EM.
