Thanks for the links Don...great info.

I find wet sanding by hand to be actually kind of fun......not hard work, just time consuming. I usually sand for a while, wipe it off and let it dry while I grab one of those burgers that Reckon likes to use for sanding

Then I come back later, check my progress and then sand some more. It is much more fun if you keep reminding yourself that you are restoring a car BY HAND and, and least I could not afford to pay somebody to do what I am doing.

I was just curious about the machines.....the rear quarters and roof of my Z are a one piece shot, so to speak. When I get back there, the sanding may become a bit tedious.

Meguiars paper rocks too.

:D

Mequires works wonders. This is the hood of Debbie's Volvo the day before lease return. This is factory paint. It was really ugly before I started. The CC was badly etched from bird poop. I wish I had some before photos.

I hand sanded the worst spots with wet 1000 or 2000. After that, I used a Porter Cable 7424with yellow (cutting) and white pads. I keep seperate pads for each product. I write the Mequires numbers on the back with a sharpie. I don't remember the product numbers I used any more. I've keep about 10 different ones to choose from and pick what the job requires. I just follow the directions on the back of the bottles.[/img]

I am planning on buying one of these just for color sanding,
which one do you recommend?
And how much do you turn down the speed?
(like half way or much slower?)

I Appreciate your help!
