What are the steps for sanding the Slick Sand? I know you start with 120, and finish with 320. Do you need something like 250 in between? Or will the 320 take the 120 scratches out easily?

I personally would go 120, 220, 320. You may find some guys that would go from 120 to 320, but I have done this with bad results. Get the whole thing sanded down and painted only to see a few sanding scratches that didn't get sanded all the way out. It's a bummer cause there is nothing you can do then except sand and repaint.

Thanks.

For the car, on spots that don't need blocking, can I simply go over the SlickSand with 320? Without 220 or 120 before it?

For my surfboard, I'm spraying lacquer paint over some low buck primer, I'm not going to sand the primer, just shoot it and paint over it. What grit should I use before spraying the primer?

You should not use a da sander for final sanding of primer, you should block by hand.

But if you are going to sand primer with the da, which I sometimes do   400 grit is fine.

i use either 320 or 400, and i use my da all the time, theres nothing wrong with useing it. however i couldn't stress enough to use a guide coat.
and also if your buying cheap sand paper, ask to feel the grits between the brands. european grade is less harsh than american. exp.. 400 euro may fell more like 600 in american. 3m is the standard on american girt and what it feels like, however we use euro grade becuase it is cheaper. so if your buying cheap, feel the diff.. why, becuase you may end up useing more of the cheap stuff than you would for the more expensive. so if cheap is only in the budget go lower than you think.
