i've searched a fair amount to no avail, i'm wondering what the best way to fill 2 holes in my car's front bumper. the car has obnoxious amber reflectors on it courtesy of the DOT leaving a hole on each side that are about 5 1/2" by 1 1/4". i'm told that the bumper is made of thermoplastic olefin but i can't confirm that.

Can you post a picture of the bumper? What kinda vehicle is it?

Thats a big hole. Consider a new aftermarket bumper. Gotta pic?

Go to your local Auto body supplier & ask them what that have to offer as far as bumper repair kits.
There's 3M, Lord Fusor & others that offer kits to repair bumpers. It will depend on the size of the hole though Another thing I've done is if it's a very large hole is find an old bumper made out of the same plastic (this is VERY important) & cut a piece out of it to fill the hole & use one of the bumper kits to fuse it all together. Just my 2 cents! David Alger

evercoat has a wide range of products for fixing plastics.
http://www.evercoat.com/maxim/TSRepair/TSRepair.html http://www.evercoat.com/productCategory.aspx?cat=6 I'd make a sheet of fiberglass squares and use one of their glues to glue it to the panel. then use a filler on the front. maybe even a another piece of fiberglass so you don't have too much body filler. |

Guys these are 5 inch plus by 1 inch plus HOLES. If I done anything other than a new bumper it would be thunderbolt's suggestion.

Like I said though, if your going to do this, MAKE sure the two plastics are the same material. I've done this before with bigger holes & haven't had a problem. David Alger
