Hi Guys,
I emptied the standing water the other day, and removed the end plug from my IR 30gal. horizontal compressor, to let it dry out.
I noticed it's all rusty inside.
Is it possible to coat the INSIDE of the compressor tank?
Would the material eventually clog things up if it made its way into the hoses?
Maybe just coating an 8" stripe on the bottom where the standing water collects?
Something like this flexible coating....

(I only use this comp for tires and air nozzle)
Good idea?, Bad idea?
Don't sweat it, Life's too short!

sounds like a bad idea. dont know about clogging hoses, but i could see pieces ending up in a paint job. letting moisture build up in the tank and letting it sit without draining the tank regularly isnt good for them. drain the tan on a regula basis. when i know i'm gonna be using my compressor a lot during a day, i keep the drain valve cracked open just a bit.

What about using gas tank sloshing compound-like they use in gas tank restoration?? NAPA doesn't carry it but there are repo parts suppliers that do.

drain the compressor daily or better yet for $100 get an automatic tank drain and install it. I wouldnt put anything in the tank that may contaminate the air
