Hey guys just wanna say this forum is awesome I learned a lot from researching on this site. I gained so much confidence I decided to tackle my first bb/cc job. The first thing I took on was painting the engine bay. the color I chose is the green off 08-10 dodge viper.

Also after so much consideration I finally picked a spray gun. It is a devilbiss plus and I love it! It shoots so nice with minimal orange peel. I also purchased a used iwata lph400 for clear coat, I just need a fluid tip for it.
I had the engine bay sand blasted because there was so much rust and garbage in there. I then quickly shot a coat of epoxy primer with a hf gun.

I proceeded to mix and shoot my first coat of base. This was when I quickly noticed how bad I suck at body work. The color showed every defect. Reason why is because I shaved all the holes in the engine bay. oh well at least im getting some experience. next time will surely be better.
For the paint I used dupont chromabase and nason 497 clear. Ii was very pleased on how nice/evenly the metallics sprayed with the plus gun.

After that I didn't get any shots of the other coats of clear but I was happy with how it turned out. Other that the **** body work.
Final result of the color.

That was an awesome choice of color - diggin' the progress. You should do a Midori paint for the exterior though!
PS - Are you in New York by any chance? |
Thanks I don't want to do midori on the exterior because because it will look like I failed to match greens. I actually moved to florida recently. Sorry for lack of updates I've been super busy lately and I just finished up a wire tuck for a buddies car, but I will get cracking again soon! |
