ok let me start out by saying that I am not a noob at this but I am far from pro
my buddy is having me paint this s10 and I am going to use nason base and clear
the problem comes with the primer he gave me it is ful-fil 421-08 acrylic primer-surfacer and the guy at the paint store told him to reduce it with laquer thinner.
will this cause any problems I would like to know now before I have to scrape paint and start all over
can i use this primer with bc/cc

It's a lacquer primer. You still need etch or epoxy over any bare metal, and as tomsteve said, it has to be sealed. I'd return it and get epoxy and urethane primers.

normally I would just use epoxy and 2k
this is for my buddies mom and it is a super low budget paint job the primer is just what he had laying around it has been done before with the same base and the same primer but I am just a little worried about it in the immortal words of Frank Sinatra "That's Life"

Your name goes on the paint job regardless.

My painting teacher many years ago always dry sanded lacquer primer - so I have done the same as well, although I have been rubbished for doing so by other guys in the shop. Now a days even if I HAVE to paint in an acrylic lacquer topcoat I always use the 2K primer and wet sand. Don't use the 1K stuff much anymore (but many do on this side of the pond).
