I am painting a 56 Ford f100 and I had a few questions... As of right now, the cab has been primed, and I have 3 coats of slicksand on it.
I have seen some people say top coating slicksand is fine and according to the tech sheet it is fine too. I can see why it would be difficult however due to the amount of material that comes off while sanding.
Anyways the question is, should I block it with 220 and go straight to 400 after that in preparation for paint? It has already been blocked out twice now.
Also, I am painting the interior as well and as far as the order of things, I was curious if someone could tell me the best way to go about it. By this I mean, paint the dash as a separate deal from everything else and then do the exterior or do the exterior then interior first?
Pictures to come.

Diablo, looking forward to pics of this slick 56.
As far as painting over Slicksand, I consider products like this as liquid fillers and like to seal them before painting. I'd use a reduced epoxy primer as a sealer. And I always paint the interiors first, then mask off and do the exterior. There are many reasons for this; easier to paint the jambs, less dust kicked up, less masking to do, etc. Also I'd probably paint the dash as a separate part and mask it very good before doing the rest of the interior. Everybody that rides in it will see the dash; you'll want it perfect ..... "If you can't move it, paint it." - U.S. Army

That's what I figured I would do. So, I put the base down today, but didn't clear it because the whether was going south so I decided to hold off until tomorrow. I will get some pics up soon though!
