Alright its primed and I think it looks good. Wet sanded out at 400grit. Had a few spots to fix but will primer them again then wet sand and im ready for color. This is the tech sheet for the paint. It says use optional reducer may be added but doesn't say how much http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationsho ... eet_au.pdf. Is there an industry standard or a known quantity I don't know about? Also it mentiones when using HVLP gun to have 8-10 psi at the cap. How do you know when you have 8-10psi at the cap?

Have a regulator on the end of the gun where you plug your air line in. Squeeze the trigger and adjust the air pressure on the regulator to 8-10 psi. If your regulator is on the wall and you run a long hose you will get a drop down in your pressure by the time it
gets to your gun.

?? 8-10 at a regulator going into the gun is not the same as 8-10 at the cap!

Some more experienced here than me will tell you what a better pressure is.

10 psi at the gun body is not 10 psi at the cap, you have two options, either adjust the gun regulator and guesstimate based on the gun out put, for refrenece turn your compressor down to 10psi and compare that output to the outpt from your cap, or they actually sell a fixture or tool to do this with also

Do it right the first time.

No matter what the paint says...always go with the gun maker's pressure specs.

Up till now I had been using the cheap harbor freight HVLP gun for primer. The gun recommnends 50-70 psi which i think is kinda high. I think Ill try to shoot it at night when its cooler down around 70 because this heat is torture lately. On the areas that I spot prime do I want to tape them off before spot priming?

if you shoot at night you run the chance of getting bugs in your finish

try spraying at the crack of dawn

its cooler and the bugs dont get in the finish as much
