Just joined the site looks like a good group of guys and alot of knowledge to be had!

my name is James, I'm 23 from Texas. I started this build when I was 21 so I've been at it for a while primarily getting the car where it needs to be and performance. Just opened up a small shop here in north texas for performance, fabrication, restoration, chassis, etc. Pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I currently still have a day jobwhile the business is taking off  as an aviation sheetmetal fabricator. It requires a HIGH attention to detail which follows me in everything I do.

Here are a few photos of where I'm at and what has been done in the past. The plan is grabber blue with black as an accent.

First coats of 2k primer

Just about finished with the engine bay. Used the toughest **** I could find cuz I spend a substantial amount of time under the hood.

Filling 18 holes in the trunk lid.

Homemade 14" aluminum drag wing to mount on the trunk lid.

Trunk lid almost lined out. She was WAVY from all the welding.

You guys would cringe if you saw what the previous owner did to "repair" this rear 1/4.  1" thick body filler and over 70 holes from a poor job at dent pulling
Image

Getting started on these repairs

Home built 6-71 blower. Turning the rotors down .010" to have the proper rotor to front case clearance
Image

Cleaning 60 years of gunk from the blower, smoothing the case for powder coating, and rebuilding.

Home built blower manifold on the Bridgeport

Rebuilt the rear with 4.56 gears, Kevlar clutches, and some goodies.

Welding in a 6pt roll bar.

Plenty more has been done but these are the highlights. More progress pics to follow as I keep working on the car.

Thanks guys!

Finished out the first round of 2k primer on the hood. It uncovered alot of waves and low/high spots. Rather then using glazing filler I'll repeat this process until it is as close to perfect as possible.

Having lathes and mills at your disposal is really a blessing.
I used to program CNC and VMC for two Areospace and one Auto Performance shop. Always thought it would be nice to have one of each in my garage but no money and no space.

You say "home built blower" was this one you modified or built from scratch?

I pulled the blower off of a late 50's GMC Detroit 6-71 diesel. And converted it for use with gasoline as a positive displacement blower. In factory form these are "pullers" rather then blowers so they have to be converted and clearances set. The only factory parts re used were the rotors, front gears, and case.

Remember this ugly little tid bit?
Image

Got a piece welded in. Got quite a bit of warpage so I'll have to hit some of it with a stud puller followed by body filler. But it's getting closer.
